Chapter 11 11.1                 Cost or Metric                 A router receives a packet from a network and passes it to another network. A router is usually attached to several networks.                 One approach is to assign a Cost for passing through a network. We call this cost a metric. High cost can be thought of as something bad; low cost can be thought of something good. The high throughput means low cost and the low throughput means high cost and  low delay is low cost and high delay is high cost. Kali ini kita akan membahas mengenai Multicasting dan Protokol Routing Multicast... Unicasting Pada unicasting, terdapat satu sumber dan satu jaringan tujuan. Hubungan antara sumber dan jaringan tujuan adalah one-to-one. Tiap router meneruskan datagram melalui hanya satu dari interfacenya. Multicasting Pada multicasting, terdapat satu sumber dan sekelompok tujuan. Hubungannya satu ke semua. Alamat sumber adalah alamat unicast, tetapi alamat tujuan adalah alamat kelompok. Alamat kelompok mendefinisikan anggota dari kelompok. Router meneruskan datagram yang diduplikat dengan alamat tujuan pada tiap paket yang sama pada semua duplikat melalui beberapa dari interfacenya. Catatan bahwa hanya satu duplikat tunggal dari pengiriman paket antara dua router apapun.
